3 Quick Tips For Your New Owlet Cam

We hope you’re enjoying your new Owlet Cam! Below are answers to a few FAQs to ensure you have an amazing experience with the Owlet Cam.

Turn on/off the light on the front of the Cam.

Did you know you can turn off the light on the front of your Cam? It’s simple! Open your app and click the “Account” button in the bottom right corner. Then under “My Owlet Devices”, click on your connected Cam. Once you’re on this page, scroll down to the “Status Light” button to toggle the light on and off.

Turn on/off background audio.

Using your Owlet Cam you have 3 different audio feature options to choose from.

  1. Cam Audio: On – Your Cam’s audio will play through your mobile device while you’re in the Owlet App.
  2. Cam Audio: Background – Your Cam’s audio will play through your mobile device, even outside of the Owlet App.
  3. Cam Audio: Off – Your Cam’s audio is muted on your mobile device.

To do this, make sure you are on the “Home” tab of your Owlet App, found in the bottom left corner. Next, click the up arrow next to your connected Cam to show the dropdown menu options. You should now see the “Cam Audio” option on your screen. Click the word “on” that is found next to the “Cam Audio” option. A popup should appear with the options to toggle between on, off or background audio

Stream Cam video footage on two different smartphones.

Exciting news, you can stream footage from your Cam on up to 5 smart devices simultaneously! Whether dad, grandma or your babysitter want to also check in on your little one, they easily can. Simply have each person download the app and sign in using your same account credentials.

*Important note: If you have multiple people wanting to stream footage from the same Cam, don’t create a separate app login for each account. This will cause the Cam to disconnect from the previous account and reconnect to the new app account. Instead, make sure everyone you are giving streaming access to (up to 5 smart devices simultaneously) uses the same login/account credentials.

Sometimes our baby is sleeping in our room and we don’t need the camera. Is there a way to turn it off through the app? Thanks



Hi Jennifer! There’s not but we can definitely let our team know that there’s interest in having this available!



Is the background sound supposed to keep going on your phone until you turn it off? Mine turned off automatically when I was listening and it made me nervous because I don’t want it turning off in the middle of the night, and I don’t hear my son.



Hi Moriah, make sure that you’ve enabled background audio so you can hear audio while you’re using other apps or if your home screen locks.



I did, and it worked for a little bit. Then the sound just turned off.

How come the sound goes in and out with the owlet camera? We have a full WiFi connection. Obviously when it goes in and out it is freezing. It’s very frustrating when we spent so much on the camera. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

My owlet cam loses audio quite frequently. Suddenly my phone will just become silent. I am not okay with this!

Can I rewatch camera footage? Or does it record??



Hi Brittany, you can view footage from the last 48 hours by removing the SD card from the back of your Cam.



How do I talk to baby through owlet. No sound come out of the camera.



Hey Marcia, make sure that you’re selecting the microphone icon in the app to access the two-way audio.



My boyfriend gave his mother the login credentials and I do not want her opening the camera whenever she wants to. Is there a way to disconnect her from viewing the camera whenever she wants? I feel like this is an invasion of my privacy.



Hi Ashley, there are not different permissions available through the app but you can unplug the Cam when it’s not in use or you could change the password on your account.

How does one use this with a babysitter? I wouldn’t necessarily want them to log into our account or give them our password. Is there an option for a guest profile? How are others using this under these circumstances?



I’ve seen other cameras with cry notifications. Our room is in a lower story than our baby’s room. Better to include additional capabilities for cam notifications. Would be annoying to buy other devices for this.



Hi JC, the Cam will have motion and sound notifications available in the future. Make sure to keep an eye out!
