5 Summer Drinks for the Hot Pregnant Mama

Being pregnant during the summer is no walk in the park. As if carrying around a growing baby isn’t difficult enough, add some extra heat and humidity and you’re going to be so thankful you found this post. Here are 5 summer drinks for the hot pregnant mama, to help keep you cool!

Double-Chocolate Malt Milkshake

Make it yourself or grab one from a drive-thru while you’re out and about, but something about the malt just makes it so much more satisfying than a regular chocolate milkshake. If you want to make it at home, here’s what you’ll need:

  • About 3 scoops of your favorite chocolate ice cream, softened
  • 1/3 to ½ cup of milk
  • 1 tbsp chocolate syrup
  • ½ cup malted milk powder

Blend, or mix by hand, your ice cream with the milk, then stir in the malted milk powder. Top with whipped cream and sprinkles, if desired. Check out the full recipe here.

Virgin Strawberry Pina Colada

What you’ll need:

  • 10 strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup pineapple chunks
  • 2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 cup ice (more or less, depending on preference)

Blend on high for about 20 seconds, pour into a fancy glass of your choice and enjoy! Click here for the recipe.

Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade

Lemonade is the go-to beverage for summer refreshment, and for good reason. Ice cream is also a classic treat for beating the summer heat. So naturally, the combination would be the ultimate concoction for a cool summer treat, right? Right. And if Chick-fil-a wasn’t already the greatest, they had to go and created a frosted lemonade so you can get it right from the drive-thru. Genius.

Water with Frozen-fruit Ice Cubes

Sometimes the only thing that will really quench that pregnant summer thirst is good ol’ fashioned water. A fun and delicious way to spruce up your water intake is by getting creative with your ice cubes. Throw some berries or pieces of your favorite fruit in with your ice tray so that your water gets a bit of refreshing fruity flavor.



Watermelon Mint Agua Fresca

  • 1/4 cups fresh mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup sugar or agave syrup
  • 5 cups chopped watermelon
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • Mint sprigs(for serving)

Combine mint leaves, sugar, and water in small pot. Bring to a boil and then transfer to another container to chill for about 30 minutes until cool. Strain mint syrup into a blender, add watermelon and lime juice and blend until smooth. Strain into a pitcher and then add 2 cups of water. Still well to combine.
