A Night in the Life of the Ross Family
June 30, 2016
Hey! My name is Jordyn. I am the mom of three amazing kids. I have a 3.5-year- old girl, a two year-old boy, and a newborn baby girl (yes, that’s three kids three and under…). When I first heard of the Owlet Baby Monitor I knew I had to have one for baby number three. I am a serious worrier. I get it from both sides of my family so I double inherited the paranoid gene. I am constantly checking on my kids and checking things around the house. With my first two kids I was a nervous wreck and would always check and double check on them.
I was so excited to use the Owlet when we got home from the hospital with our newborn at the end of April. The first night with the Owlet was a little rough. It was our first night home from the hospital and I was running on empty. I hadn’t read the instructions before having the baby so I was trying to set it all up that night. It was a bit complicated to understand at first (being exhausted may have contributed to this). I got frustrated because the baby kept wiggling and I couldn’t get a good reading. She kept ninja kicking the sock off. My baby was a few weeks early so she was really little and I couldn’t figure out how to keep the smart sock on. I gave up after a while of trying. The next day, I went to owletcare.com and I was able to chat with a customer service mom. She told me that I could put a sock over the smart sock and it would keep it on. I thought the sock would get in the way of the monitoring, thus why I didn’t do it the previous night, but I tried it the next night and it worked perfectly.
I have used the Owlet on my baby ever since that second night home from the hospital. We just recently went on a summer trip. While on the trip, I was having trouble getting the Owlet to connect to the hotel wifi. Again, I turned to the Owlet website and again a kind mom was there to answer all my questions. It was so nice to have the Owlet on the trip as it was a different environment but the worry was still very present. I was able to ease my mind with the steady green glow of the owlet on the hotel bedside table.
The reason I love this product so much is that it helps take some of the worry out of parenting. There are already so many things to worry about as a parent. The Owlet has been able to help me get some peace of mind at night time. I honestly don’t think I can go a night without it on my little one’s foot now. There’s a lot that comes along with being a parent, in particular a parent of a newborn. There’s the recovery from just having birthed a human child, there’s emotions and crazy hormones, there’s adjustments to the new life with another human around, there’s lack of sleep, and countless other things. With all of that, it’s nice to have a product that can help ease some of the worries that come along with parenting.
From the second night on it has been smooth sailing with the Owlet and it really has helped me sleep better at night, knowing that the Owlet is “up all night so I don’t have to be.” Being a mom is exhausting and marvelous at the same time. I want to be alert and on my A-game when playing with my kids. So, thank you Owlet for helping this busy mom of three get a few extra winks of sleep!
Lots of love,
