A Night in the Life with Owlet
August 6, 2016
Hello there, my name is Mytha and I run a blog called Mytha’s Homestead. My husband and I have two amazing children together. We have a two and a half-year old daughter and our one-month-old son.
I will be the first to admit, I am one paranoid mama. Becoming a mother turned me into a constant worrier. When my daughter was first born, my husband and I set up the crib in our bedroom. There I was, checking on her with every sound or moan she made. Just watching her little chest go up and down to make sure she was breathing. Although I wasn’t getting any sleep, I didn’t care. I was a mom now, I wanted to make sure she was safe and look at her peaceful face while she slept. Fast forward two and a half years later, I found myself doing the exact same thing with our son.
On top of being up at all hours of the night for feedings and diaper duty, I was constantly getting up to check on our son. My husband works overnight a lot of the time, so I was doing it all. I didn’t realize I was starting to wear myself out. Coffee was not supplying me with the energy I needed to keep up with my toddler in the daytime. So when I heard about the Owlet monitor, I knew I had to get it. The Owlet tracks your baby’s heart rate and oxygen level while they sleep. It comes with a smart sock that goes on your baby’s left foot. My only worry was that the sock was going to fall off, my son is a little squirmy. But it fit nice and snug. It includes three different sock sizes, so your baby doesn’t immediately outgrow it.
The first night using the Owlet monitor was amazing. Although I am up every two hours or so to nurse my son, I was able to easily go back to sleep after each feeding session. I didn’t toss around in bed or check on him five times before going back to sleep. Yes, I would check on him numerous times to make sure his little chest was going up and down. I couldn’t help myself.
Since using the Owlet monitor, I have managed to get some rest and sleep peacefully through the night. Whether you’re a first time parent or not, you will want to get the Owlet monitor when bringing home your newborn. It will give you a sense of reassurance, knowing you have a second pair of eyes watching over your baby while they sleep. As a parent, we want nothing more than the safety of our baby. The monitor will provide you with the peace of mind you need.
