August Update- No Monsters!
A Historic Day For Owlet
In elementary school, did you ever have a group project where you divided up the work and then when you came back together your project kinda looked like Frankenstein? Well, it happened to me as a kid, and here at Owlet we had no choice but to build our app, new electronics, new Base Station, and set up the Owlet Cloud all separately, and then come together and see if we had “created a monster” or not. The picture below was our moment of truth.
This is the moment that we wheeled our creation down from the rooftop and lightning storm to see what we had created. The results……. were…….. AMAZING!!! This picture might not seem that amazing to the untrained eye so let me break it down:
Ok, so what’s happening right here is that our very expensive Heart Rate/Oxygen Simulator is simulating a dangerously low heart rate for an infant. Our Smart Sock electronics are strapped to the simulator and interpreting the identical readings that the simulator is creating. This data is being sent wirelessly to the Base Station which sees there is a cause to sound the alarm and in that same instant the Base Station begins sounding a red alert. That alert is sent up to the cloud and relayed to the smartphone. All of this is occurring within a second.
Pretty dang fancy huh? The photo that you are viewing is a historic moment being captured both for our company and for the world. With your help, we are building the world’s first wearable infant pulse oximeter that will change the way we care for our children. This week we will be shipping units to a handful of families here in Utah to begin Alpha testing. Which is even more difficult than a simulator, so wish us luck!! Last month we made some big strides on our new app design check it out:
Our App was designed by R/GA who is arguably the best in the nation! AdWeek named them Agency of the Decade. R/GA usually never does work for startups their clients include Nike, Beats by Dre, Samsung, and big dogs like that. They, like you, see the potential in Owlet, and and we think that is pretty neat. However we don’t only care to do what R/GA thinks is best. Here at Owlet we believe you guys are numbero uno and we want to build an amazing product for YOU. So don’t forget to Give us your opinion here.
Thanks again for making all of this possible.

The Smart Sock comfortably wraps around your baby’s foot to track heart rate and oxygen levels using clinically-proven pulse oximetry. The base station glows green to let you know everything is okay but will notify with lights and sounds if something appears to be wrong.
Your Guide to an Effective Newborn Sleep Schedule
Newborns are pretty great. They’re snuggly, they smell pretty good and they’re just so dang cute. However, most of the time newborns don’t have the best sleeping habits.
