I wish you could all meet Taylor Snow, who after losing her newborn baby to SIDS, started a foundation to raise awareness. I admire her courage and resolve to change the world, it’s inspired me.
I remember the first time we met Taylor and her mother, Regina, at the Owlet office. I knew instantly that Nicho, Taylor’s son was a lucky boy to have these two energetic and passionate women caring for and loving him. On March 13, 2017, Nicho took his morning nap and woke up in the arms of God. He was just 6 weeks and 4 days old and the cause, they were told, was SIDS.
“From the moment I knew I was pregnant with Nicho, I knew he was destined for greatness. And I still do.” Taylor stated.
I watched silently as they shared videos and photos of their precious boy. They smiled and shed tears as they related several stories from his short life. Everything inside of me wanted to say something inspirational or comforting, but nothing came. I couldn’t stop thinking about my own children and the pain I’d feel if we were in their shoes. Nonetheless, I was in awe at the strength these wonderful women demonstrated as they sought to turn this tragedy into a meaningful movement. While I didn’t have healing words, I knew the team from Owlet would want to help.
Nicho’s Cause is a foundation dedicated to raising awareness about SIDs. While they are still new, they don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. Their first public event is Walk-a-thon that takes place September 9th, 2017. Details regarding the event can be found on their Facebook page. Proceeds from the event will go to providing Owlet Smart Socks for parents in need. Owlet has agreed to match every donation, dollar for dollar. Did I also mention that Taylor has since recently joined the Owlet team as a member of the fantastic customer service team?
Taylor and Regina’s foundation is one of many we support who raise awareness and help families in need to get Owlet devices. It’s amazing to see the incredible work these different groups are doing. We proudly stand behind organizations who strive to make the world a safer place for infants, educate parents on safe sleep or further SIDS research.
