My new favorite sleep buddy: Owlet

January 6, 2016

This is an installment of Owlet’s “A Night in the Life” series, featuring real parents sharing their experiences with the Owlet Monitor. Click here to see all blog posts in the series.

Hi! I’m Katie from Made to be a Momma and I have two busy little boys ages 4 1/2 and 3, and a sweet little 6 week old girl. My life is busy, exhausting and beautiful, as I’m sure yours is as well, and now just a little bit more stress free with my new favorite sleep buddy, our Owlet.

Like most new moms, when I brought my first son home I would be up multiple times during the night not only with midnight feedings but to check on him and make sure everything was okay. When I brought my second son home those feelings of midnight assurances came again. Both boys slept in our room in a bassinet until they were almost 5 months old and even then it was hard to have them sleep in their own room. My mind could just never completely shut off from wondering if they were okay. When we found out we were expecting our third child I knew that I was going to have those same new baby concerns and then I heard about Owlet from a blogging friend. I was shocked that I hadn’t heard of this product before and immediately thought… I NEED that… there is my answer for a peaceful night, at least for my mind.

I have had the Owlet for about 6 weeks now and it has become our third set of eyes. I love knowing that while I am catching some much needed sleep, cleaning the house or baby is napping in another room the Owlet is tracking my little nuggets oxygen level and heart rate by pulse oximetry. It is designed to notify me if readings fall out of range. The Owlet comes with three different sock sizes to grow with your child. For the newborn size sock the sensor goes on the bottom of the foot and always on the left foot. For the larger size socks the sensor goes on the top of the foot and again, always on the left foot.

Overall, my husband and I really love the Owlet and the comfort it has brought our family. We no longer are having to perform our ninja moves in the dark to prevent from stepping on any squeaky cracks. We can look at our phone and see just how well our princess is doing. I wish I had had this smart sock when my older two boys were babies. It’s definitely a must have for any new parent! Thank you Owlet for helping us keep our babies a little safer one little Owlet Smart Sock at a time!

The Smart Sock is the first baby monitor to track your baby’s oxygen level and heart rate—good indicators of Baby's overall well-being—while they sleep. If your baby’s readings leave preset zones, you'll receive a notification that lets you know your baby really needs you. Now you can feel more confidence, more freedom, and more peace of mind knowing that Owlet is here to help.

Our all-new Smart Sock is the third of its kind and it's smarter than ever.

Hi Jarrett! The Owlet was designed to notify you if your baby’s oxygen falls below a preset threshold. You will also have access to the live vitals on the app that will tell you the percentage of oxygen. However, it is not a medical device and is only intended for peace of mind. Because of this, our preset thresholds are not adjustable, so you’ll want to look at if your little one’s normal oxygen level will work with the Owlet.

Does it tell you the baby’s exact lever on the oxygen? My littles girl oxygen level is lower then normal baby’s due to her heart conditions so I need one that will give a exact percent instead of just saying low

Hello, I’m interested in the Owlet for the future. I was wondering though if it only works on iPhones or also Androids and such? Please let me know! Thanks!
