Owlet Announces Its Newest Innovation: The Owlet Band, a Prenatal Wellness Product

Owlet wants to continue helping you rest assured, but now during pregnancy. Announcing its newest innovation at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the Owlet Band will help mothers-to-be track their baby’s wellness in utero by wearing a comfortable band wrapped around their abdomen. This first-of-its-kind consumer wearable product to connect pregnant moms with their babies will allow them to track their own sleep position, hear their baby’s heart rate, automatically count their baby’s kicks, notify them of contractions and receive a wellness report to share with family and friends.

Kurt Workman, CEO of Owlet Baby Care, is thrilled to be launching the product to consumers late this year. “As a company of parents, it is important to us to bring innovative technology into a family’s everyday life in an easy-to-use form with functionality that is meaningful to the health and wellness of the baby and family.”

Soon-to-be-moms may stress wondering whether their baby is okay. But now mothers will not only be able to hear their infant’s heartbeat but automatically count their baby’s kicks, all providing a little more peace of mind.

Using comfortable soft fiber blends, the Owlet Band hugs the shape of the mother’s growing and changing body from 24 weeks to full-term and uses passive and trusted ECG technology 30 times smaller than comparable technology. Due to its thin qualities, the sensors provide outstanding comfort without compromising signal quality to “cast a net” of sensors over the entire abdomen and track an unborn baby’s wellness as he/she moves within the womb.

The Band is even designed to report on contractions to help mothers learn what they feel like and stay informed on how their body is preparing for labor. Plus, mothers can save and record audio of their baby’s heart rate, allowing them to bond with their little one months before meeting them.

“This product could be a game-changer in determining the wellness of a fetus,“ said Jeff Humpherys, Owlet’s Chief Data Scientist.

This is amazing! I had preterm labor with our first child and having something like this would have helped so much and given us peace of mind! We used the owlet when we brought him home from the hospital and the second night it alerted us to low oxygen levels, his pneumonia was caught sooner and treatment was very affective. Our doctor now is an owlet advocate too! We are hoping to become pregnant with our second child soon! A tool like this is invaluable and we would love to be a part of the Beta group!

Just last week my baby passed away in utero, at 37 weeks. I only found out when I showed up to my weekly checkup and his strong heartbeat was gone. I am now recovering from a c-section with no little one to hold.
We have no answers as to what happened, the entire pregnancy was normal, I’m completely healthy, and all test result have been clear. It is still absolutely devastating. He was our first, and the thought of even trying for another baby is still so daunting, however learning about the Owlet Band gives me the hope to try again. This could have saved my baby… but at least it can now save many others, and give us the peace of mind to try get through another pregnancy someday.

Would be so grateful to be able to test this out! My son was stillborn at 40 weeks 5 days in May of 2018. We don’t know what took his life, only that it was a cord accident of some type. Currently pregnant again and due in late August, feeling nervous and anxious to say the least.

Hello, I would be very interested to test out the belly band! This is my 4th pregnancy and I am high risk due to complications last time when I had pre term labor from 5 months pregnant and was lucky enough to carry until 35 weeks when I had to have an emergency C section. He was born with underdeveloped lungs and a heart murmur. All of my children were born by c section which caused my uterus to be paper thin during the last delivery and the doctor is worried about tearing on the inside if I begin to have contractions. I will need to be monitored continuously throughout this pregnancy for the safety of the baby and myself. This is our last chance at having a baby as other medical issues have caused me to only have a 1 year window before surgery would make it that I won’t ever be able to carry and keep a pregnancy. I am currently pregnant and due September 9th 2019 and would love to be a beta tester for your new product! Thank you for your time and consideration.

I would love to be part of the beta test of the pregnancy band. I am due with my second on 7/11/19. This is an IVF pregnancy due to secondary infertility, low sperm count/motility, PCOS, and factor V leiden. I am a labor and delivery nurse and constantly check up on this little babe. I would love to see how this band works and be able to recommend it to the many pregnant women I see on a daily basis.

I am very interested in being part of the beta testing group. I am currently 24 weeks pregnant expecting my 3rd child. We lost our 1st baby at 39 weeks without warning in a seemingly healthy pregnancy. My 2nd pregnancy was full of anxiety. We have been so blessed to welcome a healthy baby girl and now another little boy on the way! I am thrilled there is a product like this soon hitting the market!

Hello! I just saw your pregnancy band and I am very interested! I am currently expecting our 9th baby (due date 3/2/2019). This baby has a severe heart defect (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome), so I know many things will be different this time around. Technically, baby and I are “safe” to be able to do a natural delivery, however I do have some concerns based on my prior labors/deliveries. I am usually in labor a long time and the hospital dopplers hate me. They have a very difficult time picking up baby’s heartbeat and I often go for 20-30 minute stretches without the doppler picking anything up, though baby is actually fine. I am worried this time around with the heightened risks and having more “medical eyes” on me and baby than normal that the medical staff will want to take me into a c-section because of the doppler issue. I am fine with a cesarean as long as it is needed for my baby, but I do want to do everything possible to avoid a cesarean so that I can recover quickly and be there for my baby as she undergoes her own surgery shortly after birth. I see your product as a way to better pick up baby’s heartbeat and receive the input we will need during labor. (though realizing ahead of time that the hospital staff will probably not want to use it, my hope is to use both your band and the dopplers–hoping that your product succeeds when the doppler fails). I know your product is not slated to be released until the end of this year, but I am wondering if you have a need for testers ahead of this release. I gladly volunteer! Thank you for your consideration!

I would love to be a part of this beta testing. I had a stillbirth at 34 weeks in 2017 and went for so many scans/NSTs during our next pregnancy for peace of mind. I know it wouldn’t replace this kind of hospital testing but just to be a part of the development of this product would be amazing. Pregnancy planned for sometime in 2019….I live un Canada, though so cant fill out the form. I keep getting redirected to the .ca website.
