Owlet Basics: Your Primary Notification System

March 30, 2016

It’s happened to all of us: you dropped your phone in a puddle and now it’s sitting there with a sad blank screen. It’s bad enough that you can’t text anyone sad emoji faces to vent your frustration, but you’re also disconnected from all of your apps. Yep, that means no more updates on the Kardashian clan until you get a replacement. But wait, does that mean your brand new Owlet is out of commission too?

Not. At. All. For those iPhone users who have had a stroke of bad luck, or Android users patiently waiting until June for the app to drop, you’re in luck! Owlet’s Base Station is your primary notification system, so you are covered regardless of your current smartphone situation. Here’s more info on the Owlet basics.

So for everyone who is currently crossing their fingers and staring at their iPhone as it sits in a plastic sandwich bag filled with rice, take a deep relaxing breath. You have one less thing to worry about: your little one’s new monitor. We know how you feel about your precious babe, which is why we made sure you don’t need your phone (or a reliable Wi-Fi connection) to check on them.

The base station has four colored lights and different audible notifications to communicate any updates you might need about your baby. Green means the Smart Sock is taking readings and they look good. Blue means the Smart Sock is too far from the Base Station. Yellow means that the Smart Sock can’t get a good read from your baby’s foot. Red lights mean that heart rate or oxygen levels look problematic.

We love seeing our little guys’ vitals on our phones, but it’s nice to look over at the Base Station sitting on the bedside table, glowing that comforting green glow.

The Smart Sock is the first baby monitor to track your baby’s oxygen level and heart rate—good indicators of Baby's overall well-being—while they sleep. If your baby’s readings leave preset zones, you'll receive a notification that lets you know your baby really needs you. Now you can feel more confidence, more freedom, and more peace of mind knowing that Owlet is here to help.

Our all-new Smart Sock is the third of its kind and it's smarter than ever.

Hi Emily, the app needs to be open or running in the background with the volume turned on and up for you to receive notifications on your phone but the base station will always send you notifications.

Will my phone automatically be notified of an alarm, or will it only sound on the base?
I want to make sure I can hear it when I’m not in the same room!

Hi Sarah, it sounds like you’re looking at the different pricing for the US and Canada? In the US, the Smart Sock is $299 and the bundle is $399 USD. In Canada, the Smart Sock is $399 and the bundle is $539 CAD. Hope that helps!

I JUST bought the smart sock for $399 now your offering it at that sane price with the camera! Super disappointed! I saved for ages to buy this 🙁
