See a Breakdown of How Your Baby Sleeps

June 18, 2021

We understand that sleep is critical to your infant’s overall development and mood. By tracking your baby’s sleep and movement, we can provide insights into total hours slept, awake times and a breakdown of your baby’s sleep quality by looking at light vs. deep sleep.

The data in the Owlet app is extremely accurate and paints a clear picture of how your baby is sleeping. You can use this data to develop healthy sleep habits for your baby and to create routines that will resonate with your baby.

Simply download the Owlet App and make sure your Smart Sock is connected to your app account. Start using the Smart Sock with your little one and history will then auto-populate in the History tab on your app.

Check out some fun Owlet sleep statistics below!

Sleep Stat #1:

Owlet babies get approximately 10 hours 53 minutes of sleep each night!

Sleep Stat #2:

Top states with Owlet babies that sleep the most:

  1. Arizona
  2. Nevada
  3. New Mexico
  4. Utah
  5. Alaska

Now that’s a lot of 💤’s!

Hi Krista, sleep is determined by the algorithms our team has created based on heart rate, oxygen, and movement. Especially if your baby is moving or in a swing, the movement will impact how the algorithm sees your baby’s sleep. History and sleep data are not available real-time.

We check our graph daily and our baby rarely gets into deep sleep and if he does it’s only for a few minutes yet the sleep quality report says great…is this normal to not have any or very minimal deep sleep for babies. Currently he is 4 weeks old.

We’ve been using the owlet on my daughter for the past few weeks (she’s 2.5 weeks old) and it is showing long periods of wake time when I believe she is asleep. Overall sleep quality is usually poor or okay. How does the sock determine that she is asleep? Is there a way to view a real-time status (ie, awake, light sleep, deep sleep etc) or only in the history?

Hi Amanda, the Smart Sock is only designed to be used while your little one is sleeping. As it sounds like your constantly using it, that could definitely have an impact on the sleep quality as it’s expected that it’s only used when your baby is sleeping. 🙂

We have been using the owlet for 5 weeks now, since we brought our daughter home from the hospital. I’ve noticed that the app says she ALWAYS has “poor” sleep quality….and maybe once or twice it has said “okay” sleep quality. I’m confused because she seems to be sleeping well to me when she is asleep… She does wear the owlet constantly. It doesn’t come off except to charge, to bathe her, or to clean the sock. Can wearing it all the time Vs just when you actually lay them down to sleep cause these readings? How is the sleep quality determined in the first place? Sorry, these readings just have me thinking maybe something isn’t right?
*Also just to note I posted this same question under a different article before I saw this one

Hey Lauren, reach out to our Customer Care Team via chat in the Owlet app and they’ll look into this for you!

Hi Stephanie! You can find this under the History tab in the app.

Stephanie DiDonato

I can’t find a chart like that on my app (using the New Owlet app on Android 10). Please help

My owlet and app do not track my son’s sleep. Why is that? It also doesnt show the history of his o2 and heart rate.
