Smart Sock Sneak Peek

Beloved Owlet Supporters,

We have set our phasers from stun… to kill… dun dun dun (epic music plays). Our bug killing phasers that is. This month has been the month of squashing bug after bug on our journey to make Owlet the smartest baby monitor the world has ever seen. Here are some of the milestones with product development last month:

1. We will have the first 200 samples from our manufacturer at the end of this week. If the planets align and these samples meet our high standards, this will be our final product

2. We have selected our first group of beta testers and we will be shipping to them next week.

3. Founders Kurt and Jake went to the world International Conference on Infant Survival. There we heard from the world’s top researchers about all kinds of conditions that can cause infant death. Suffocation and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) are big problems that we hope our infant health data set will help to accelerate research in these areas.

4. It is still too early to tell when we will be shipping the final product. This beta test will give us more insight on when we will be able to ship. We wish we had a better answer but we do not want to mismanage your expectations on shipping timelines. As soon as we have a solid timeline we will let you, our beloved backers, know first.

Smart Sock Sneak Peak:

At Owlet, we believe it is the attention to little details that make a customer experience great. Our Smart Sock has gone through about 50 different iterations and has been a work in process for over a year. Everything from sizing, washability, and breathability, as well as safety and aesthetics have been meticulously woven into this final design. We know you will love it and as a big thank-you for your support and patience we wanted to give you this sneak peak to the Owlet Smart Sock.

We have had to censor any images of our final Smart Sock design in our updates until our design patent was submitted. We are happy to give you, as an early supporter of Owlet, a detailed sneak peak! We made sewn prototypes of over40 designs, we went out and tested these designs and found that you our beloved consumers wanted something a little more out of this little sock. These were our findings:

I preordered March 5, and am just wondering if there’s ANY idea when my order might ship? My due date is June 14 and I am just so excited about your product!

Hey Nicole,

Barring some unforeseen incident, you should be getting your device in May. That is assuming you are not chosen to get it in this first shipment the second week of April. We are excited too! Thanks so much for your support!

How do I sign up for beta testing new products we have the owlet and love it.

Brittany

Hi Donn, we don’t have any need for beta testers at the moment as we are focusing our efforts on perfecting the Smart Sock. But stay tuned on the blog and our Facebook page for any requests for beta testers that we might have in the future!

I would like to speak with your team to discuss further enhancements to this product. I am in the process of developing a similar product for monitoring. Together, I think we could make a dynamic impact on babies well being!!!

Feel free to contact me anytime.

This is a product I recently stumbled upon while sitting in the hospital with my 4 month old son with down syndrome, who was admited for an ALTE. I was thinking about getting a monitor for him. The ones i found were expensive and required the use of wires and I had actually thought with wireless technology today why is there no portable, wireless monitor. Being an emergency room nurse myself I have parents ask us about a product like this and now I will be able to direct them toward the owlet. Hope it releases soon and I can’t wait for it.

Thanks for your interest and for seeing the vision. We are working hard to get the monitor ready ASAP but will not ship until we know it is safe and reliable. We are so excited to ships soon.

We need to make sure that everyone knows that this monitor is not a medical device and shouldn’t be used to replace any prescribed monitors. One day we hope to have a FDA approved medical device.

My daughter is now two years old so to a degree we have made it through the most dangerous phase of her early life in terms of SIDS etcetera. Granted we’re by no means out of the woods yet but we are a tad concerned that once our owlet arrives our daughter may reject wearing it, more so that is than may have been the case if she’d gotten used to sleeping in it at an earlier age.

A factor that might alleviate this is if the owlet feels like a sock to wear and it has a mate – a second dummy sock for the other foot. Is this a concept you have given any thought to?

Dion, we haven’t really considered that but it is definitely something we will look in to. Thanks for the letting us know!
