My name is Ashley and I run the blog Sunshine & Lullabies. My husband and I have two little girls, Harper Grey and Indy Rose. When we found out that I was pregnant with babe #2 and that we were havng another girl, we knew that we weren’t going to need a whole lot of stuff. Harper would only be 2 years old when the babe came so it’s not like her things were even old. But I had just started seeing posts on Instagram about this new monitor and I knew that it was a must have. If you haven’t seen the video for it yet, check it out, it literally gave me chills!
Since it’s been a couple of years, we forgot how completely nerve wracking it is to have a brand new little babe at the house. I thought I’d be much more casual the second time around, which for most things I am, but when it comes to safe sleeping I was just as freaked out this time. Those first few days at home where you know you should be sleeping when they are but instead you sit there watching their chest move up and down, waiting for every twitch that gives you this feeling of immense relief. But let’s be real, the exhaustion sets in and then no one is doing good.
That’s where the Owlet Monitor comes into play. It’s the only monitor on the market that uses clincially-proven technology to track your baby’s oxygen levels. To me this is so reassuring! We used a video monitor with our oldest but I can’t tell you how many times we would run into the other room just to check on her. I love that we can check her heart rate and oxygen levels on our phone whether we’re home or not. Right now we’re trying to transition Indy into the crib in her own room, up until this point she’s been in our room in her separate sleep space. It’s so scary putting her in another room on the other side of the house. Being able the “check in” on her without the risk of waking her is so amazing!
Being a new parent, whether it’s your first baby or your fifth, can be very intimidating. The only thing you can do is set youself and the babes up for sucess and go with the flow. Oh, and keep your sense of humor! You’re going to need it.
